Alice DiMicele is a singer/songwriter and acoustic guitar player that seamlessly works jazz/blues phrasing and R&B and rock & roll rhythms into a broadened Folk/Roots/ Americana sound she calls “Organic Acoustic Groove.” Having lived in the Rogue Valley since she was 21 years old DiMicele has roots firmly planted in Southern Oregon as does her band “Force of Nature” which features her long-time bassist Rob Kohler and includes some of the valley’s most sought-after musicians: Mikey Stevens on trumpet and guitar, Don Harriss on keyboards, and Nick Kirby on drums. They will perform an album release concert at the Havurah Synagogue on Saturday March 3rd at 8pm. The show is co-sponsored by the Ashland Food Co-op and the Havurah Synagogue, and part of the proceeds will benefit KS Wild. Advance tickets are $20 and can be found at The Music Coop in Ashland or at Brown Paper Tickets.

For over 30 years Alice has been a grassroots trailblazer in independent music. Bucking the advances of record labels early in her career–she has self-released 14 albums on her Alice Otter Music label including 2018’s “One With the Tide”. DiMicele has stayed true to herself and her mission: to create music that connects people and inspires them to take a stand for the earth and for justice in the world. Born and raised in New Jersey, and firmly transplanted since 1986 in the fertile Southern Oregon soil, DiMicele’s music encompasses both city savvy and country innocence.
Alice has played at many festivals including Strawberry Music Festival, Kate Wolf Music Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Joshua Tree Music Festivals, Oregon Country Fair, Northwest String Summit and many, many more. She’s shared stages with some of music’s finest including some of her musical heroes like Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, JJ Cale, David Grisman Quintet, Steve Winwood, Ferron, Peter Rowan, Richie Havens, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and the list goes on. Bonnie Raitt said, “Alice’s music has that great combination of earthiness and groove that keeps it funky from the inside out. She’s for real.”
On “One With The Tide,” DiMicele brings her vocal prowess, distinctive guitar playing, and insightful songwriting to an album of remarkable clarity and depth, bringing the listener through the complex emotions that come with being human, while reminding us of our connection to nature and each other. Already receiving widespread airplay in Europe, throughout 2018 DiMicele plans to tour the US and abroad.
