Ashland Police Department has released a statement indicating a 12 year boy fatally stabbed his mother and injured his sister on January 10, 2017. The incident took place on the 900 block of Morton in Ashland. Here is the police statement:
Homicide Incident and Arrest
On January 10, 2017 at approximately 8:18 a.m. officers from the Ashland Police Department responded to the 900 block of Morton for a report of an assault. On arrival the officers found one victim dead and another seriously injured. Both victims were stabbed multiple times. The deceased victim has been identified as Pamela Wolosz, 52 years old.
The injured victim’s name is not being released as she is a juvenile. She is currently being treated at an area hospital and is expected to survive at this time.
The investigation led officers to arrest a 12 year old male for the assault and homicide. The victims are the mother and sister, respectively, of the 12 year old male suspect.
The Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit has been activated and detectives from the Oregon State Police, Medford Police, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Central Point Police are assisting in the investigation.
The Jackson County District Attorney’s office is also on scene and is assisting as needed.
There is no further threat to the community at this time. The thoughts of the entire law enforcement community are with this family, as well as with the entire community, as we work through this tragic event.
